Lips
Immediate Aftercare (first 24-72 hours)
Keep the area clean: Blot your lips gently with a clean, damp makeup removal pad every couple of hours, as advised by your technician.
Avoid water: Keep the treated area dry by not standing in the shower head, and protect it from water with ointment when you must wash your face.
Eat and drink carefully: Drink water through a straw and be careful not to get toothpaste on your lips. Avoid spicy foods and hot drinks.
Apply balm: After blotting, apply a thin layer of the healing balm your technician recommended to keep the area moisturized.
Use cold packs: If needed, use a cold pack wrapped in plastic wrap to reduce swelling.
Avoid lip makeup: Do not wear lipstick or lip gloss for at least the first week.
Ongoing Healing
Do not pick or scratch: As the area dries and flakes, do not pick at the scabs. Let the skin fall off naturally to avoid pigment loss.
Keep it moisturised: Continue applying the recommended healing balm as needed to prevent dryness.
Protect from the sun: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 3-4 weeks. Wear a hat if you are going to be outside, and use an SPF balm once peeling has stopped.
Avoid certain products: Do not use exfoliants, retinol, glycolic acid, or vitamin C on or around the lips for at least 30 days, as they can cause premature fading.
Avoid excessive sweating: Avoid intense exercise for the first 5-7 days, or until the peeling is complete. Please do: Try to sleep on your back with a clean pillowcase following the treatment. Keep the ointment clean, ALWAYS use clean fingers to avoid infection. Throw away your old makeup - it will contain bacteria that can contaminate and infect the treated area, disrupting the final healed results.
